We can’t believe nutrition labels haven’t found there way onto meat packaging before this!!
The Agriculture Department will start requiring many meat labels to show nutrition facts starting in 2012 in an attempt to help consumers when they shop.
The rule applies to 40 of the most popular cuts of meat and poultry, such as ground beef.
Said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack:
“More and more, busy American families want nutrition information that they can quickly and easily understand. We need to do all we can to provide nutrition labels that will help consumers make informed decisions.”
We TOTALLY support this! Hopefully this will help people pick leaner cuts of meat when they’re at the store!
