Terrifying…

After a long, long morning, Chief of Police Chief Cathy Lanier and Washington, D.C.’s mayor Vincent Gray just spoke with the press about the shooting that took place at the Navy Yard this morning.

At the moment, the pair would only confirm that four people have been severally wounded on the scene, one of them being a police officer, who is currently stable and in surgery. As to the number of fatalities, Chief Lanier confirmed that there have be “multiple” confirmed deaths, including that of the initial shooter.

Chief Lanier then announced that their biggest concern is that it’s believed there are two more shooters at large still on the base. She described the pair as, “one white male, last seen at 8:40 this morning, in a khaki tan military uniform, beret hat, with a hand gun” and “one black male, 50 years of age, carrying a long gun, in an olive military style uniform.”

No information at this time leads them to believe that any of the shooters were in the military and they are touting this shooting to be a “isolated incident,” meaning it may possibly have no terrorist ties.

We’ll keep you updated as we get more information.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the families, co-workers and first responders on the scene.
