New York City Starbucks Are Eliminating Public Restrooms

starbucks restrooms
According to sources, some New York City Starbucks will no longer be offering public restrooms — even for customers!
Although this is not a company-wide initiative, it is happening in more and more franchise locations throughout the city.
Eateries with more than 19 seats are required by law to have a public bathroom, but since most Starbucks have fewer than 20, they are are getting away with cutting off customers from their toilets.
A few have turned the once public restrooms into private ones for employee use only, while others have downsized from two to one.
Reasons for taking away customer toilets vary too. Some employees have stated that their store “closed off the public bathroom because it was just too messy├óΓé¼┬¥ and they had to make regular repairs.
Others contend that the line for the public restroom was hurting productivity because employees were forced to wait in the line with the customers.
Fewer New Yorkers may be able to find restroom relief inside Starbucks, but at least they’ll have a Venti cup in their hand and a dark alley nearby.
