Nike Re-Signs Michael Vick

Vick Nike Resign

It’s been four years since Michael Vick was dropped from Nike and universally despised for dogfighting.

We’re now getting word that, yes, indeed it IS a 4 year period that’s required before everyone just happens to be okay with what you’ve done and is willing to pay you millions of dollars again.

Let’s put that in perspective: If you turn 21, you still have 4 years before your insurance rate is lowered at 25. It takes four years to be forgiven for being young and meaning you don’t have to pay as much anymore, even when you have a perfect driving record.

And apparently it’s the same amount of time before you’re forgiven for watching and training dogs to kill each other for sport.

While we recognize that he’s making an effort, we’re not sure where the effort is coming from. Our guess is wanting those fat paychecks again, because let’s be honest: if someone can be that cruel to dogs, can they ever move on from being that person?

“Michael acknowledges his past mistakes,” Nike said in a statement. “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”

“Michael is committed to working with Nike and wants to utilize his platform as a professional athlete to have a positive impact on our youth,” said Andrew Stroth, the Chicago-based attorney who negotiated the deal for Vick.

If you ask us, cruelty to animals like that is unbelievable. Having the same life you had before handed right back to you and making the same amount of money just makes no sense to us. Think of how well that money could be spent on much better role models.

Do U agree with Nike?
