COME ON, PAULA DEEN.
You’ve been on your “comeback” for about 30 seconds and you’re already saying shizz like this?? Do you think $75 million grew on trees??
Not only did Paula compare her own “struggle” (which she earned fair and square) with Michael Sam‘s struggle as the first openly gay NFL hopeful — but she also found some new ’empathy’ inside of her… empathy for other figures going through controversy, like that homophobic Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson!
If you’ve forgotten, Paula’s empire came to a halt last year after she admitted to using the N-word during a trial. She’s now trying to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. A Phoenix that says horrible things from time to time.
Here’s what she said:
“I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name. It’s like that black football player who recently came out. He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”
Do you think he wants to be known as “that black” football player too??
This is when she took a step further in the wrong direction, by pointing out that Phil Robertson and Nigella Lawson endured scandals last year without any noticeable damage to their careers, and that she has a newfound “empathy” for people hounded by the media.
Well, we mean — it’s not like they’re being scrutinized for no reason!
She said:
“It’s amazing that some people are given passes and some people are crucified. I have new empathy for these situations, though. My dad always told me, ‘Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.’”
We don’t know, if this is the kind of public presence that $75-$100 million from private equity firm Najafi Cos. gets for their money, we might want it back if we were them!
We don’t even know what to say!
