According to our government, pizza sauce will continue to be considered a vegetable.
Phew! We almost had to come up with a brand new excuse for eating that delicious, bad-for-us treat!
The bill that congress is putting forward wants to keep pizza tomato paste as a vegetable, as well as french fries. Which, no doubt, will make kids everywhere happy, but will unravel all of the progress to get starches out of school lunches to make things healthier for kids.
We mean, where’s the problem in the logic that the USDA wanted to count a half cup of tomato paste as a veggie?? Just because a serving of pizza has less than that??
Ridiculous!
We kid, we kid. We do think it’s rather suspect to make the claim that they’re healthy vegetables.
But we’ll just have to see what congress passes!
