Baltimore Police Investigating Cop Who Seemingly Coughed On Black Woman Without Covering His Mouth!

If you’re still holding out hope that the coronavirus pandemic would bring out the best in humanity, you should probably just skip to the next post.

According to reports, the Baltimore Police Department is investigating an incident involving a police officer who was accused of purposely coughing at residents of a housing complex without covering his mouth.

The video (below) shows the cop walking through the Perkins Homes complex in East Baltimore as residents seemingly taunt him. He appears to respond by purposefully coughing right at the woman recording him — and she responds by telling him that white people are more likely to get sick with COVID-19.

As the cop continues to walk past the woman, she tells him:

“Come here coughing like that s**t is cute. I should call the CDC on his a** and let them know he did some dirty s**t.”

It’s unclear if the officer, who’s a sergeant, has been tested for coronavirus, but TMZ reports that he’s still on active duty as the department conducts an investigation.

Baltimore PD spokeswoman Lindsey Eldridge told the outlet:

“We have viewed the video, in its entirety, and believe it warranted being forwarded to the Public Integrity Bureau for an internal investigation.”

Police Commissioner Michael Harrison added in a statement Tuesday afternoon:

“After watching the full video, in its entirety, it is not only disturbing, but incomprehensible, especially considering the high-level of strong and clear guidance that we have provided from the beginning, regarding COVID-19… Members are always expected to be sensitive and professional to the community, but what we saw in the video is alarming because this pandemic is affecting lives not only nationally, worldwide, but right here in our own police department.”

In addition to reviewing the video, the Department’s Public Integrity Bureau will be looking at the sergeant’s body-camera footage.

As for the woman’s claims that white people are more at risk of contracting the coronavirus, it appears the opposite may be true: multiple cities have reported that black residents are dying from the virus at a higher rate than other racial demographics.
