MTV Picks Up Weight Loss Reality Show

mtv picks up weight loss reality show
In an attempt to bring new unscripted programming to MTV, the network has picked up the reality show, I Used to Be Fat.
The series will follow teens after their senior year of high school into their freshman year of college with the intent to lose weight before they enter a new phase of their lives. The first of ten one-hour episodes will air on December 29th on MTV’s Ten Spot.
Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV, said:

“One of the loudest things we heard from our audience was reality was feeling a lot less real to them. The kind of reality where you really felt the producer’s hand, they just weren’t buying it.”

Each episode will center around one teen who will work with trainers, nutritionists and doctors to achieve their weight-loss goals.
Executive producer JD Roth added:

“That reboot of your life can happen over one summer. The kids who really dedicated themselves and really wanted this made changes that are staggering. We had multiple kids lose 100 pounds.”

Wowsa! So inspiring.
