What’s a president to do when all the CEOs start ditching his party? Cancel the party before everyone cancels on him, duh!!!
In the days following his response to the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Donald Trump has gone from cocky to desperate over his American Manufacturing Council.
When Merck CEO Ken Frazier publicly resigned from the council on Monday to “take a stand against intolerance and extremism,” Trump’s response was to make fun of the Big Pharma mogul on Twitter.

But the resignation letters didn’t stop there! Over the next few days, execs from Under Armour, Intel, and AFL-CIO pulled out of Trump’s advisory committees.
Still, POTUS played it cool, claiming he had “many” CEOs lined up to take the place of anyone who wanted to drop from the panel. Of course, that wasn’t actually the case…
After more business leaders ditched the party on Wednesday — including 3M, GE, and Campbell Soup — the president couldn’t take any more rejection, so he straight up disbanded the Manufacturing Council and Strategy & Policy Forum altogether:
Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all!

We guess losing Cambell Soup was the final straw…

Don’t worry, POTUS is already making up excuses for the council fail. During a heated exchange with reporters, Trump later said some of the CEO decision were due to “embarrassment” over outsourcing.
But every business leader who dropped from the panel made it clear they were doing so over concerns about inclusivity!
