Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson are just two wheels spinning in opposite directions — which is apparently what led to lots of friction between the two on The Fate of the Furious set in 2016.

At least that's what The Rock says was the cause of his now-famous beef with his Fast 8 costar in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

The feud first came to light in August 2016, when the Rampage star wrote an Instagram caption thanking his hard-working crew and female costars, but slammed an unnamed "candy ass" male costar.

After a few more passive aggressive social media posts, it became clear the candy ass in question was Diesel. But we still never found out what when down between the two… until now!

Johnson confirms he and Diesel "were not in any scenes together" in the new interview, revealing that their trouble basically came down to a disagreement about professionalism. He told the publication:

It's been a bang up year for Vin Diesel!

Forbes just named the action star the top grossing actor of 2017, listing his salary as $1.6 billion.

Diesel's high-octane earnings were largely due to being the face of the Fast and the Furious franchise — the latest entry of which, Fate of the Furious, topped $1.2 billion at the international box office.

The film also towed Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to the no. 2 spot on the list, with a salary of $1.5 billion. Now we know why the franchise leads weren't in any hurry to crank out the next Fast film like their broke costar Tyrese Gibson!

Last year's top earner Scarlett Johansson didn't place at all, but quite a few kick ass ladies — including Gal Gadot and Emma Watson — earned just a few mil shy of 2017's top earners.

See the full list, which is calculated by adding up 2017 global ticket sales of major films as of Dec. 26, 2017 (animated movies not included), below:

Sry, Tyrese! Vin Diesel Sides With Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson In The Latest Fast & Furious Drama That Includes The Rock's Response!

What's one thing stronger than family? Franchise growth opportunities!

And it looks that Vin Diesel is putting business before blood in the latest chapter of… "the Fast and the Furious cast's online beefs."

For the past few weeks, Tyrese Gibson has been begging Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson NOT to go forward with a solo Hobbs spinoff movie as it would push back the release of Fast & Furious 9 — and, more importantly, Gibson's paycheck.

After The Rock officially signed on for the spinoff with Jason Statham — effectively postponing Fast 9 from April 19, 2019 to an April 10, 2020 release — Gibson attacked his costar on Instagram for what he claimed was hijacking the franchise while kicking the #FastFam to the curb.

Of course, it didn't take long for other members of the crew to chime in on the beef. But the response of one cast member in particular has caught us by surprise!

Diesel addressed the dispute on Instagram over the weekend and made it clear he was siding with The Rock, despite their well documented PR stunt social media quarrel last year.

Captioning a snap of himself and Johnson from Fast 5, the 50-year-old defended the Hobbs spinoff, noting it was the perfect way to hold fans over while Universal does some much needed maintenance on the rest of the Fast franchise.

Not only that, Vin totally took credit for bringing Johnson on board in the first place! (Look away, Tyrese!):

Vin Diesel

The Fast drama continues.

It seems Tyrese isn't the only one with hard feelings toward Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Vin Diesel seemingly threw some shade of his own on Instagram on Thursday!

ICYMI, the 39-year-old rapper called out the former wrestler via social media this week for "breaking up" the Fast family by signing up for a solo spinoff film that delays the release of Fast 9.

Diesel later threw his hat in the ring by posting a photo of him standing side-by-side with Tyrese and the late Paul Walker, who was the center of the franchise before his passing.

2 Dirty 2 Laundry!

What is it with the Fast and Furious movies and drama being aired out on social media?

First it was Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson calling out "candy ass" costar Vin Diesel for his bad behavior on set. Then Michelle Rodriguez had to bring up her gripes about how the franchise has been treating its women on Instagram.

Now the latest is Tyrese Gibson, who apparently couldn't find a more private way to reach The Rock with a very specific issue.

Apparently Tyrese is worried DJ's rumored Hobbs spinoff movie with Jason Statham will delay Fast 9, hurting his own checkbook — er, we mean "the fans."

Thankfully, The Shade Room screen grabbed what Gibson wrote in the comments section of The Rock's IG post on Sunday:
