Don’t call him a hero!
John Legend doesn’t think he’s particularly brave for appearing in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly series and condemning the disgraced singer for his alleged actions. In fact, he says it was an easy decision to make.

The Grammy winner was the only major artist to participate in the docu-series and he certainly doesn’t pull any punches in his interviews. At one point in one of the episodes, which airs Saturday, he says:

“R. Kelly has brought so much pain to so many people. #TimesUp for R. Kelly.”

Seeing as a number of other major artists — including JAY-Z, Mary J. Blige, and noted sexual assault survivor advocate Lady GaGa — turned down offers to appear in the series, Legend has been praised for involving himself in such a risky project.
But the way Chrissy Teigen’s husband sees it, denouncing a “serial child rapist” isn’t risky at all — it’s the right thing to do! He tweeted after the airing of the first two episodes on Thursday:

Legend is clearly ready for it. Watch his remaining interviews when Parts three and four of Surviving R. Kelly air Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
