7th Heaven Dad Stephen Collins' Nasty Divorce Trial: How Much Money Does His Ex-Wife Want? And How Will The Child Molestation Charges Come Into Play?

Fans are still reeling at the news that 7th Heaven patriarch Stephen Collins confessed to child molestation.
But how did those tapes get public anyway?
Stephen’s ex Faye Grant claims she gave them only to authorities, and they must have leaked from there.

Collins’ lawyer accused Grant of trying to use the tape as extortion to get more than she’s owed in their divorce. But how much money is she really asking for? How much is Collins worth?
Between residuals for 7th Heaven, recurring roles on shows like Revolution and Desperate Housewives, and inheritance, it’s actually more than you might think.
In her legal request, Grant states:

“Throughout most of our marriage, Stephen typically earned around $1 to $3 million per year.”

She estimates that he is currently earning about $44,000/month. She also says they have over $6 million in their bank/retirement accounts, which she considers community property.
Collins and Grant may be fighting over their share of the wealth, but it sounds like the trial proper will be all about his child molestation charges.

Grant will reportedly use any evidence at her disposal to prove Collins’ crimes to the court. Why?
If the judge has reason to believe any of Collins’ victims will sue, he will be inclined to separate Grant’s money quickly to keep her protected.
All of this will be settled soon; the trial begins November 12th. [Image via Nikki Nelson/WENN.]
