Crazy Ants Commit Mass Suicide By Playing Follow The Leader

It’s hard out here for a pimp ant!
Turns out, a species of ants will follow each other into massive suicide.
The reason? They can’t see!
Army ants are blind so they “see” where they are going by sensing scent cues from other ants. So it’s basically an ant version of “Follow the Leader” called an “ant mill.”
But if the lead ant follows another ant, all the ants will loop each other and die of exhaustion.
The only way to stop it is if something gets in their way.
