After hearing official word on her imminent departure, we’re not at all ashamed to admit we spent much of Monday wiping away dried, salty tears from our face!!
Barbara Walters is retiring from The View in 2014 and the world sure will miss her charm, experience, and thoughtful insight!
We’re elated she’s beginning a new phase of her life, though, and THRILLED she has the clout to dictate her own terms!
Unlike the times NBC unceremoniously pushed out Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Ann Curry, and now Jay Leno again, ABC let their golden gal call all the shots!
One insider revealed:
├óΓé¼┼ôShe was holding court in her dressing room and the bosses came to say good luck. Barbara was terrific. She was very moved by all the attention. And she├óΓé¼Γäóll be happier when everyone gets back to doing things normally… She will be keeping an office at ABC News, and if something happens in the world and she wants to report it, she will be reporting and anchoring. The timing was done her way and that├óΓé¼Γäós the only way something like this would ever happen.├óΓé¼┬¥

ABC clearly values her immeasurable contributions that have spanned over four decades!!
The insider continued:
“Barbara will continue to be the creator of the show and earn a lot of money from the show. She just will no longer be a host of the show. But letting go will be hard for her. When she was sick she was emailing notes to the ladies, saying goodbye. This will almost be impossible for her.”
Ugh!! We’re sad to see her ride off into the sunset!!
The world will miss you, Babz!!
