And The Most Bike Friendly State Is...

Bike Friendly
Washington!
No big surprise here, as Washington has been named the most bike friendly state for a fifth year in a row!
We think that it really does have something to do with the fact that each of the top five states — Washington, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Colorado and Oregon — the focus of the respective Departments of Transportation is not only on highways but on accommodating pedestrians, cyclists and transportation on ferries and trains!
Here’s what the president of the League of American Bicyclists has to say:

“We are encouraged to see significant progress in top states like Washington, Minnesota, Colorado and Massachusetts. But, as the scores clearly highlight, there’s much work to be done in critical areas like infrastructure and funding. Overall, we see states — and especially state Departments of Transportation and state legislatures — lagging behind cities and the expectations of local cyclists, despite the many well documented benefits of a more active lifestyle.”

Bikin’ it is one of the best ways to keep in shape, get around, and stop using gas.
It’s incredible to us that not very many states and cities want to encourage that!
Congrats, Washington!
P.S. — Booooo Arkansas for coming in last.
