We lurvz us some Brad Pitt and Bono!!! And we’re not alone├óΓé¼┬ª
Evidently the Church of Scientology were big fans of these big names too and reportedly tried to recruit BOTH of them to join the religion back in the day!
And they came pretty darn close too!
Brad studied Scientology in the early ’90s while dating actress and long-time follower of the Church, Juliette Lewis. At that time, Pitt was involved in the “Purification Rundown” to try and kick a drug habit – a program Juliette claimed helped her overcome her own addictions.
It didn’t take long for Brad to realize the religion (or Juliette) wasn’t for him, but according to the niece of Church leader David Miscavige, the organization was determined to make him a member!
Jenna Miscavige Hill, who escaped from Scientology herself after 21 years inside, is now detailing what she says were plans drawn up by the Church to enlist Pitt and U2 frontman Bono! She says when it comes to recruiting new celebrity members, it’s all about name recognition. Jenna explained:
├óΓé¼┼ôThere├óΓé¼Γäós a celebrity strategy and they├óΓé¼Γäóre targeted for their influence, not their money. They know people are obsessed with celebrities so [they] will get more interested in Scientology.”
Jenna is disclosing for the first time that Bono was actually audited by the Church and was at one point a top priority to recruit due to his international fame! Jenna remarked:
“├óΓé¼┬ªSomeone like Bono would fit the bill perfectly as so many people know him. I know he was receiving Scientology auditing and was at one of the Celebrity Centre Galas. Why would he need auditing? Scientology markets itself to everyone, it can deal with everything from marital problems to public speaking. He├óΓé¼Γäós a human, so he still needs those things. If he were to join, all the world would be Scientology!├óΓé¼┬¥
Woah! Jaws, meet the floor!
These new revelations are however being contested by the Church themselves. When asked about Jenna’s claims, a Scientology spokesperson commented:
├óΓé¼┼ôAt no time was Mrs. Hill ever privy to any ├óΓé¼╦£priorities├óΓé¼Γäó or ├óΓé¼╦£strategies├óΓé¼Γäó. As a result, she is in no position to comment and any claims to the contrary must be viewed with skepticism.”
Hey, we don’t care what religion our favorite movie stars and rock legends practice, so long as they’re happy and healthy! But considering some of the recent revelations by our girl Leah Remini, we’re somewhat happy to see Brad and Bono doing their own thing.
We can’t blame Scientology for trying though! Who wouldn’t want Brad Pitt and Bono on their team?!?
