Earlier this year, NBC news anchor Brian Williams got some major heat after he falsely claimed that he had been in a helicopter that had come under RPG fire while in Iraq in 2003.
This claim eventually led to him being suspended for 6 months without pay from his NBC Nightly News desk.
Now, it’s being reported that the anchor is still having trouble coming to terms with his false claim and wondering aloud if his fib was attributed to a brain tumor.
Several NBC News insiders said in a recent report that Williams had trouble explaining to even his co-workers what happened. A source had this to say:
“(He said,) ├óΓé¼╦£Did something happen to (my) head? Maybe I had a brain tumor, or something in my head.’ He just didn’t know. We just didn’t know. We had no clear sense what had happened. We got the best (apology) we could get.”

While it’s unclear whether it’s due to a brain tumor or a brain fart, co-workers of the 55-year-old explained that Williams didn’t have much interest in heavy news topics like politics. An insider explained:
“Brian has very little interest in politics. It’s not in his blood. What Brian cares about is logistics, the weather, and planes and trains and helicopters.”
The news anchor was reportedly insecure from his lack of experience as a foreign or war correspondent. A former NBC exec revealed the effort it took to get Williams in Iraq:
“He didn’t want to leave New York. Getting him to war zones was real tough…but when he did go, he came back with these great stories that kind of put himself at the center of things.”
Maybe his past insecurities played a part in his fabricating the story in the first place? Whatever the reason, Williams’ removal from his NBC desk will definitely prevent him from stretching the truth in the future. And if he is sick, we’ll send him lots of positive thoughts!
