Celine Dion Opens Up About Late Husband Ahead Of Her Highly Anticipated Billboard Music Awards Performance

It’s been four months since Celine Dion tragically lost her soulmate to cancer.
However, it appears the Grammy winner is trying to stay strong, not only for her kids, but because that’s what her late husband Ren├â┬⌐ Ang├â┬⌐lil would’ve wanted. So sad!

As you may recall, the Power of Love singer lost her longtime love back in January after his extensive battle with throat cancer. The music industry vet was 73 years old.
Regardless, Miz Dion is slated to perform a cover of Queen‘s hit The Show Must Go On at the Billboard Music Awards, as well as accept the event’s Icon Award this Sunday.
On the importance of her performance, the 48-year-old shared:

“I really, really want to prove to my kids their mother is strong. Ren├â┬⌐ always insisted the show must go on. You know what, I’m 48 years old and I lost the love of my life. I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. I cannot be selfish. You have to let people go. I feel at peace.”

Well, that’s good to hear. Still we can only imagine life without Ren├â┬⌐ is still hard on the Canadian native, especially since Celine met her man when she was only 12-years-old. Not to mention, the twosome were married for 21 years and have three children together.

To make matters worse, Celine explained she had hope for sometime that her husband might inevitably survive his fatal disease. She added:

“It’s been a long, long journey. We were living in hope, knowing that there’s no hope.”

However, by the time the end drew near, the family braced themselves for his death. Celine relayed:

“I’m not the type of person who’s going to say, ‘I know he’s going to make it’… There were times when I was very, very scared and he’d write me ‘The end is near, I feel it.’ I would go back and say ‘How can you say that? Are you in more pain?’ Now I know it’s possible for someone dying to feel when it comes.”

Tissues, anyone? We’re more than ready for the songstress to SLAY at the BMAs — and it appears Celine is equally ready as she concluded:

“He left me with all of his strength. Every day we live with him, just not physically. I’m thankful that he does not suffer anymore… It’s what Ren├â┬⌐ would have wanted. We all miss him. But we’re doing fine.”

Be sure to tune into the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
