Our dogs are very important and when something is up, we need to act fast to make sure they can lead happy and HEALTHY lives.
Cesar Milan has come up with some scenarios where an veterinary emergency might be needed. If you see any of these problems with your doggie, then he or she needs help FAST!
1. Dog Trauma
If your dog has sustained severe trauma, then these can DEFINITELY be emergencies. Injuries such as fall, gunshot wound, and getting hit by a car are immediate medical emergencies. Limping and cuts on the body are also signs to look for too.
2. Breathing and Nerve Damage
Like humans, breathing can be a sign of distress. Wheezing, choking or raspy breath are signs of a medical emergency. If something is stuck in your dogs throat, DO NOT DISLODGE IT YOURSELF!
Lethargy and weakness are signs of neurological damage and should be carefully examined. If your pup isn’t lively and alert then something could be up and medical action needs to be done.
3. Vomiting and Diarrhea.

Dogs vomit and poop all the time, so how can we tell if there’s something wrong? Blood and presisting vomiting or diarrhea are good clues of poor health. Withhold food from your dog for 4 to 6 hours and make sure they have lots of water available when they need it. If vomiting or diarrhea presist for more than 24 hours, than rush your dog to the vet NOW!

Being on the lookout for things that could go wrong is key to helping your doggie be big and strong!
