Christian Slater Is Being Sued For $20 Million... By His Own Father!

Oh snap.
As we reported, Christian Slater revealed to Interview mag last summer that his father Thomas Knight Slater (stage name Michael Hawkins) greatly suffers from manic-depressive schizophrenia, a condition which affected their relationship and his father’s career as an actor. However, the 46-year-old said that the two had been “able to begin to build a better bridge” after Hawkins wanted to reconnect.
Well now things seem to have taken a turn as poppa Slater is suing his famous son for at least $20 million.
According to docs obtained by People, Hawkins claims Slater and his ex-wife Mary Jo Slater “ruined” his acting career by labeling him as mentally ill.

The accusations include slander, libel, defamation of character, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, invasion of privacy, as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress. Hawkins demands a jury trial.
Dang, anything else?!
The 80-year-old claims that he doesn’t have a mental illness and that his son doesn’t have “a medical credential or the ability to diagnose manic-depressive schizophrenia.”
The documents add:

“This publicly embarrassing disclosure, according to proof, has ruined his career in the stage, motion picture and television industry which he has never recovered from.”

Moreover, the Trucker’s Woman actor says his son’s “attack on his profession” has “blacklisted” him from obtaining gigs in the entertainment industry.
