Cory Monteith's Ex-Girlfriend Speaks About His Addiction Demons

No question Cory Monteith‘s loved ones are having a hard time coping with his untimely death.

No one, including those closest to him, could’ve guessed that Cory would lose his long battle with drug addiction ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ especially considering his recent voluntary rehab stint.

Cory’s ex-girlfriend Mallory Matoush has come out of the wood work to confirm that Cory made a clear effort to keep his on-going struggle a secret.

Mallory explained:

“Cory kept me in the dark about his drug use. He told me about his teenage days and his past problems but he never used anything in front of me, ever. He was always so silly and funny. My favorite memory is when Cory was in town for Jimmy Fallon. We went for dinner after. He was still wearing what he wore for the interview. He was sitting on the couch in his hotel room the same way he sat on the show. I pointed it out and he was laughing hysterically for like 5 minutes. He would always make a joke about everything and was just a silly guy.”

In fact, the only drug or alcohol consumption Mallory saw from the late Glee was a drink every now and then.

Mallory continued:

“Cory was so normal. I didn’t even know who he was when I met him. I had to Google it because after the first night I stayed with him, I was on my way out of his hotel and there was a crowd of young girls waiting for him. They asked me if I had seen Cory Monteith inside the hotel and I was so confused.”

We’ll never know what was going through the beloved blossoming actor’s head the moments leading up to his death, but we wish more than anything that he would’ve sought help before taking that last lethal hit.

Despite the fact that we know there is nothing ANYONE could’ve done, there is no doubt there will remain a dark cloud over Hollywood in Cory’s heart wrenching absence.

If only his hidden demons weren’t more powerful than his will to be clean and sober.
