Donald Trump hasn’t contacted late firefighter Corey Comperatore’s family after he was shot and killed during the former President’s assassination attempt.
On Monday, Corey’s widow Helen Comperatore spoke to the New York Post about the final moments she shared with her heroic husband and what has transpired since his passing. Shockingly, she revealed that President Joe Biden tried to call the family after the shooting, but she declined. She said:
“I didn’t talk to Biden. I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

Because she and, especially, her husband supported MAGA, she just didn’t want to sit through a chat with the current prez, she explained:
“I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden.”
And yet, the current Presidential candidate she is supporting — and who was also involved in the shooting — hasn’t reached out! But she’s not holding a grudge, she insisted:
“He didn’t do anything to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”
Whoa.
If you don’t know, reports swirled that Donald went golfing the day after the horrific incident that left Corey dead and two others critically injured (though they are expected to recover). FWIW, Donny spoke to the New York Post on Sunday, and he claimed he wanted to “get the numbers” of the families affected by this violence, saying:
“Get the numbers, I want to go to the hospital and call all the families.”
Guess it wasn’t his top priority, though, since he hadn’t called yet. That said, he did find time to speak briefly with Biden at some point after sustaining an ear injury in the attack. And his top finance person, Meredith O’Rourke, set up a “Trump Authorized” fundraiser for all the victims, which has raised nearly $5 million. So, The Celebrity Apprentice alum is doing something to help the families of those hurt or killed.
Many other people have gone out of their way to be helpful to the Comperatores. Reflecting on a different GoFundMe campaign set up for her family which has raised over $1 million, Helen told the outlet:
“The donations that are coming in across the community and across the country, it’s more than I can even imagine. It’s more than I can fathom, but he deserves it all. He deserves everything.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Helen sadly recalled her husband’s final moments at the Pennsylvania rally, saying:
“He’s my hero. He just said, ‘Get down!’ That was the last thing he said.”
The 50-year-old, whom she called “a very loving husband,” decided to take his wife and kids to the rally over the weekend, she added:
“Me and the kids were all there as a family. He was just excited. It was going to be a nice day with the family. […] It was a bad day.”
Oof. The couple was about to celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary, too, she shared:
“He was a simple man but he put his wife and kids first all the time. I did nothing here. I didn’t lift a finger. He did everything.”
This makes it all the more difficult to lose him in the blink of an eye. A truly heartbreaking loss for this family and all of Corey’s loved ones.
