Felicity Huffman Macy just opened up about her true motives for participating in the nationwide college admissions scandal that has undoubtedly changed her life.
We reported that the actress was overwhelmed with emotion when she plead guilty at her day in court on Monday. But William H. Macy‘s wife revealed her daughter reportedly has a pre-existing learning disability that made her eligible for extra time on exams.

For those who need a quick refresher, the 56-year-old admitted to paying $15,000 to the man who orchestrated the massive scheme, Rick Singer, in order to fraudulently boost her daughter’s SAT score.
Per the Los Angeles Times, Huffman told the court in Boston that she isn’t denying the charges she’s facing, but insisted her daughter’s learning disability diagnosis was absolutely a factor in why she did what she did.
The Desperate Housewives alum explained, saying:
“My daughter has been seeing a neuro-psychologist since she was 8 years old.”
The Golden Globe winner said she didn’t bring it up until now because she didn’t want to give the impression that her daughter’s psychologist, who helped them get extended time on the college entrance examination, knew about the scheme engineered to bolster her child’s test scores.
She continued:
“I just didn’t want to create the impression that the neuropsychiatrist had anything to do with this.”
Hmm, we sort of understand Felicity’s logic here. The actress has been upfront about her involvement in the scandal from the start (unlike her peer Lori Loughlin), and has taken all of the blame and public shame that’s come as a result of her actions. But if Huffman was adamant about keeping the physician out of the drama, she sure picked an inneresting time to admit his knowledge of her daughter Sofia Grace Macy‘s condition. It’ll certainly drag him into the mess now.
Also, if what Huffman claims is true and her daughter’s learning disability has been a factor since she was in grade school, is it safe to assume that Sofia’s high school knew of the unnamed disability, too? And even if Sofia was awarded extra time for the SAT exam, it doesn’t excuse her mother’s decision to have someone go in after the fact and change the answers.
We also doubt this new information presented in court will have any effect on Huffman’s future sentencing, which is set for September 13. Per Us Weekly, prosecutors are likely to recommend a sentence of at least four months in federal prison for the actress and they anticipate a judge will likely hand out a fine somewhere around $20,000 to the celeb.
