Gwen Stefani's Hairdresser Gives All The Deets On Her Latest Cornrow/Faux Hawk Look -- Plus Which Style Blake Shelton Loves Most!

Gwen Stefani's hairstylist describes her braided look.
If you loved Gwen Stefani‘s braided/cornrow/faux hawk/top knot look from her Misery performance on The Voice on Monday, you’re in luck!
Her hairstylist Danilo gave a pretty thorough explanation of how he created the intricate style.

Apparently it was quite the undertaking and three separate attempts were made to get it right.
Danilo said:

“Gwen was like, ‘I want to do a cornrow look.’ We already knew we wanted to do this look that we had developed so we turned it into cornrows.”

The striking creation includes five Dutch braids, with one serving as a faux hawk and top knot at the top of her head, two joining from the sides toward the back, and two additional ones coming down over her ears.
Her hairstylist further explained:

“When I introduced this concept [of the braids placed in front of the ears] to Gwen, she really liked it, and we’ve played with it in several ways, and it’s interestingly flattering. Bringing that ponytail-pigtail-braid situation to the front of the ear, it almost becomes ornamentation.”

He was also quick to add that Gwen totally owns the look:

“Gwen wears [the hairstyle], it doesn’t wear her. It’s just different. There are no boundaries about it, there’s no rules, and there definitely aren’t any with Gwen. It’s a matter of how to make it really cool, and I think it’s chic ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ she’s always going to have an elegance to her.”

As for Blake Shelton, he apparently really digs his lady love’s many mane experiments, with one in particular being his favorite:

“He likes her black-tipped bob. I think as any couple, they’re supportive of who each other are. They get together and strengthen one another with complements.”

Awwwww! Sounds like a keeper!
