Harry Puttared!

A lawsuit filed by Warner Bros against the makers of Bollywood film Hari Puttarhas been rejected by a court in Delhi, India

Obviously, WB is claiming that the Indian title is too similar to their Harry Potter films.

However, looks like India is defending it’s own. They claim WB could have brought the case to court three years earlier.

They also claim that Hari Puttar can be easily distinguished from Harry Potter.

So thanks to that decision, the flick can now be released in India.

Mirchi Movies, the makers of the Bollywood flick, they claim Hari Puttar has no connection with the Potter movies, and claim that Hari is a popular Indian name and Puttar means “son” in Punjabi and Hindi.

The movie, Hari Puttar, is the story of a “10-year-old boy who moves to England with his family and becomes involved in a plan to save the world.”

The flick was originally set to be released on September 12th, but was pushed back due to the court case.

The movie will now be released across India later this week on September 26th.

According to a statement released by Hari Puttar‘s attorney, “The case has been dismissed. The court said that Warner Bros had known the title of the film since 2005 and had delayed bringing the case to court until the last moment.”

Somehow we’re not too confident that even if WB had tried three years earlier, the outcome would have been any different!
