Alan Rickman Writing About His Frustrations Filming The Harry Potter Series Is SOOOO Snape!

Is perfection too much to ask for? Snape never thought so.
And neither did Alan Rickman — who was apparently quite frustrated with the development of his character while filming the Harry Potter franchise, according to a collection of the actor’s personal items up for auction.

Two years after his passing, the Neil Pearson Rare Books released Rickman’s old scripts, photographs, letters, and personal diaries as part of an auction at the ABA Rare Book Fair in London.
Among these items includes a letter from producer David Heyman, who thanked Rickman for his work on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets — as well as dealing with his many frustrations filming the series.
Heyman wrote:

“Thank you for making HP2 a success. I know, at times, you are frustrated but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant.”

Rickman later spelled out these frustrations in a note titled INSIDE SNAPE’S HEAD, which was written while he was filming 2009’s Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.

Lamenting about how director David Yates was dropping the ball on Snape’s character and overall narrative development, he wrote:

“It’s as if David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal.”

Whoa. Did J.K. Rowling know about this Slytherin shade?
For the most part, the collection was full of happy sentiments — including a postcard to Rickman from Daniel Radcliffe in which the young actor wished him a Merry Xmas.
The Neil Pearson Twitter account shared last month:

There you have it — Harry kept it merry, but Snape kept it real.
