Jada Pinkett Smith, and her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Jones (pictured together, above), are getting REALLY real about race in a new episode of Red Table Talk posted to Facebook this week.
The pair, along with guests, had a really frank and open discussion about some of the politics behind racial issues in America regarding blended families, dating outside one’s own race, and more.

The mother-daughter duo opened up about quite a bit during the video, including Adrienne admitting her own prejudices caused her to be extremely mean to one of Jada’s white boyfriends while growing up.
Adrienne explained:

“It’s really difficult for me because we have white people in our family. I repeated what mommy told me, was that you have to learn to get along with white people but don’t ever bring them home … I didn’t give myself an opportunity to even like John … but [he was a very] nice guy.”

Wow!
But it wasn’t just Adrienne — Jada admitted some of her own biases during the talk, too, including how she’s “triggered” at times by white women (and blonde women!).
Jada shared:

“I have to admit I’m guilty to a certain degree that I do have my own biases, specifically to blonde women. Blonde hair on white women just triggers me. I’ve had to catch myself. Absolutely. All throughout my childhood. I do remember experiencing being teased by white women in regards to my hair, how I looked, feeling belittled.”

Now that’s real!

And she continued:

“I was going to do an interview with this blonde woman and I thought twice about it. I thought, ‘I don’t know if I want to do that.’ That was my first instinct because of how she looked! And I was like, ‘Oh! That’s no different.’ That doesn’t give me the right to clump all blonde women in one. And look at me, I got blonde hair! It’s no different than you getting robbed by a black guy once and now you’re saying all black dudes are thieves and dangerous.”

Amen, Jada!
The starlet also recalled one particularly painful moment when she was called the N-word when was younger:

“I remember going to Virginia Beach. Remember when they had the riots? I was there by myself — terrified — trying to get back to my hotel. I will never forget, there were these two white officers. I was like, ‘I’m just trying to get down the street so I can get to my hotel’ and they said, ‘You better get your n***** bitch ass off this street right now.’”

Horrifying!!
