We’re glad they’re seeking some help!
Last night, Jessa and Jill Duggar starred alongside their mother Michelle on TLC‘s documentary series Breaking the Silence. They were there to get some education to help them deal with everything they’ve gone through in regards to their brother Josh‘s scandal.
A couple months ago, Josh admitted to molesting five underage girls, two of which were his sisters Jessa and Jill.

Breaking the Silence is a show that partnered TLC and RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) as well as Darkness to Light — a nonprofit organization that looks to empower people to help prevent child sexual abuse — to help bring awareness to the problem by sharing stories of sexual abuse and various survivors!
Jill also spoke up about her experience saying:

“It’s amazing to understand that there are so many people that deal with this exact same thing in their own families. So just being educated is very good.”

Jessa added that:

“I feel like this should be a discussion people are having, even regularly. I think that it shouldn’t be a taboo subject, that we should be bringing awareness to child sexual abuse and talking about this.”

Jessa went on to talk about how she’s thinking ahead and looking to use the information to help her own family once her first baby is born in November. Jessa talked about the experience saying she learned:

“… things I can do to be more aware, things I can do to set up boundaries and safeguards for my child and children, hopefully, in the future.”

Michelle even talked a bit about what the girls were going through saying:

“I was so glad that my girls and I were able to do this together and that we could just be a support and encouragement to each other to be able to gain more information about this important topic.”

Sounds like the girls had a great experience and learned quite a bit but they weren’t the only ones. Their were several victims of various ages, both male and female, that shared their stories including Teri Hatcher as well as Cheryl Burke.
It’s incredibly inspiring whenever people have the courage to publicly come forward and seek help for terrible experiences they’ve gone through.
We definitely applaud the Duggar girls for seeking help and education, as well as all the other victims and we hope they’re able to help themselves move on.
