You have to admire Kesha for her outspokenness and her dedication to social issues!
At the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia Tuesday night, Kesha spoke out on her ongoing lawsuit with Dr. Luke AND gun control issues. The emotional event was hosted by Gabrielle Giffords, a former member of Congress who was shot in the head in 2011.

While the singer mostly discussed the importance of stricter gun control laws, she also compared the pain of her issues with Luke to those affected by tragedy and hardships.
Speaking on the trials all “human beings” go through, the performer stated:

“I know we came here to boogie, but I have a few things to say. I’d like to thank Gabby Giffords for having me. I’ve been thinking about it because I feel like if you’re a human being, you go through things, and you go through hurt. And every single one of us knows that emotion. I don’t know if you guys know what I’m going through, I’m going through a lawsuit.”

Well, the 29-year-old really tapped into a major truth here — EVERYONE goes through difficulties and “hurt” at some point or another!
The gay rights advocate then went on to use her experience as a platform for better gun control laws:

“We as a nation, we can’t control who feels hurt. We can’t control who feels pain and we can’t control what you do with the hurt, and the pain and the anger. You can’t control every single person and know how they’re going to deal with things or if they’re going to pick up a weapon├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥you don’t know that. What we can control is who we give the f–king weapons to. I think the universe is screaming at us that there needs to be a change and we have to f–king listen.”

Preach, girl! Given all the violence happening in America lately, it’s hard to ignore Kesha’s plea for peace and common sense.
Summing up her message, the beauty expressed:

“I do think love is something as humans we all have and I hope heals us. I really believe that love and empathy, it can heal us.”

What a perfect way to end the evening. There’s no better healing power than love!
So, what do YOU think of Kesha’s speech?
