Kit Harington Checked Into Rehab Due To Stress Of 'Game Of Thrones' Ending

Kit Harington Rehab Game Of Thrones Ending

Sending positive vibes to Kit Harington.
The Game Of Thrones star has checked into rehab for stress and alcohol abuse, his reps confirmed.
We knew he could be a heavy drinker; we had no idea he was in need of help.
According to Page Six, the catalyst isn’t the alcohol but the ending of Game Of Thrones.

According to the outlet’s sources, this decade-long chapter of his life coming to an end “really hit him hard” — and has sent Kit into an emotional tailspin.
Insiders say Kit checked in weeks before the finale aired, and has been at the facility, a luxury health retreat in Connecticut called Privé-Swiss, for almost a month.
There Kit has been “undergoing psychological coaching, practicing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat stress and deal with negative emotions.” And spending a hefty $120 grand a month to do so.
His reps confirmed the report to TMZ, saying Kit “has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.”
An friend explained Kit’s decision to Page Six:

“He realized ‘this is it — this is the end’; it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, ‘what next?'”

Perhaps we should have seen this coming.
We’ve all casually, even admiringly talked about how emotional the end of Thrones was making him.
We watched during HBO‘s The Last Watch documentary as he cried at the table read and gave a powerful, tear-filled speech after his series wrap was announced.

If you haven’t seen, he tells the cast and crew:

“My heart is breaking. I love this show… more than anything. It has never been a job for me. It’s been my life, and this will always be the greatest thing I’ll ever do and be a part of. And you’ve just been my family. I love you. Thank you so much.”

If that’s really how he feels, no wonder he’s so stressed at the thought of it all ending.
The insider said Kit is in the clinic “predominantly for stress and exhaustion” but also for his alcohol use.
We are so glad he recognizes drinking is not a solution here.
Kit is also a newlywed, having married former costar Rose Leslie less than a year ago, in June of last year.

Page Six‘s insider says of the actress’ response to Kit’s decision:

“His wife Rose is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.”

Again, we’re happy Kit recognized the problem and was brave enough to seek help and not let it get out of hand.
We want him to have anything he needs; he’ll always be our king in the north. Poor guy.
