Mariah Carey emancipated herself from longtime friend and music collaborator Jermaine Dupri months after hiring him as her manager!
The Elusive Chanteuse reportedly axed JD from her management team just like that!
Could the move possibly be related to her Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse‘s poor album sales?
According to the upcoming issue of Billboard magazine, the We Belong Together singer is in talks to do business with former Def Jam president and her current water business partner Kevin Liles.
It isn’t set in stone yet, but if and when the deal goes through, this will be a very good move for Mimi!
Kevin was there when her The Emancipation of Mimi sales went through the roof and he currently manages a number of rising stars!
However, don’t expect any tears from Jermaine after this business move, he’s actually doing pretty okay!
In a statement to Billboard, he said:

“I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work. I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on.
Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.”

See? No hard feelings!
Plus, we’re sure these two will continue working together. He had a hand in making her Emancipation album a huge hit!
