Such good news. According to reports, Catholics are more supportive of gay and lesbian rights than other Christians and even the general public.
The CEO of Public Religion Research Institute, Dr. Robert P. Jones, reveals:

“It may come as a surprise to many that rank and file Catholics are more supportive of rights for gays and lesbians than other Christians and the public.
But the best data available paints this consistent portrait across a range of issues, including same-sex marriage, workplace non-discrimination, open military service, and adoption rights for gay and lesbian couples.”

The results found that about 43% of Catholics favored allowing gay and lesbian people to marry and 31% were ok with them forming civil unions.
An impressive 6 out of 10 also favored allowing gays to adopt children as well as serve openly in the military.
Let’s hope others can start being more supportive!
