The world loves her now, but was that always the case?
Zooey Deschanel recently spoke with Elle, and revealed some amazing insights about her childhood!
The New Girl star was not always the beloved person that she is now!
In fact she says it was quite the opposite!
Here’s what she said in the February’s edition of the magazine (you can see her gorgeous cover for the Women in TV issue HERE!):
“I wasn’t the world’s most popular child. Definitely none of the kids I grew up with would have ever thought, ‘Zooey will be on television and have her own show’.”
But Zooey believes the hardships she endured while growing up gave her a “built-in tenacity.”
Here’s what she said:
“Nothing has ever come easy for me, and I think that’s a really good thing. I learned at an early age that you have to work hard for what you get. I have really stood up for myself on multiple platforms. It’s sort of the grown-up version of middle-school nastiness, and I’m just like, come on. If there’s one thing I’d like to graduate from, it’s girl-on-girl hate. I don’t believe in it.”
That’s right, ladies! Girls in the world have got to stick together! Girl power!
We think Zooey is an amazing case of someone not having an easy time in school, and showing the world her true potential later in life!
