According to sources, Paul Walker‘s family was told by stunt experts that his deadly car crash was due to the vehicle hydroplaning on the roadside’s reflective plastic markers.
These experts’ theory is that at a certain high speed, a car driving over those small markers called Bott’s Dots will hydroplane and lose control.
Allegedly, it’s like driving on ice, especially since the Porsche Paul was in was outfitted with specialty tires that have very minimal tread.
In fact, the following is an excerpt from a memo that Porsche sent out regarding the Carrera GT racecar:

“This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side. It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels. You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.).”
