She’s just like you and us. You’d do well to remember that, OKAY!
In next month’s issue of Marie Claire, Sarah Jessica Parker makes it a point to clear up a few things. Yes, she is famous – very famous – but at the end of the day, she is just like everyone else. She insists that she does all the things normal, red-blooded American’s do, like grocery shopping, waiting in line and yes, even jury duty.
In the article, she explains:
├óΓé¼┼ôI never wanted to be a celebrity; I never wanted to be famous. And in my daily life, I work really hard to not trade on it in any way … I am so desperately worried about anybody saying, ├óΓé¼╦£She cut in line├óΓé¼Γäó or ├óΓé¼╦£She took our table├óΓé¼Γäó or She got out of jury duty├óΓé¼Γäó or ├óΓé¼╦£She doesn├óΓé¼Γäót do her own grocery shopping.├óΓé¼Γäó The things that bother me are counter to who I am and the way I live. It├óΓé¼Γäós not like it├óΓé¼Γäós hard to be decent and respectful and well-behaved. I do wait in line, and I do take the subway, and I do do my own grocery shopping, and I do take the kids to school … For Page Six [who ran a story about her demanding to be let out of jury duty] to be so cavalier ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ I was so outraged by the character assassination! I have served so many times, I was asked to come speak at Jury Appreciation Day! I expect I should be more calloused by now, but I am so sensitive about not ever living up to anybody├óΓé¼Γäós worst idea about an actor who is well-known.├óΓé¼┬¥
So there! What now, critical world?!
SJP is a lot of things, but we never really thought she was much of a diva. Maybe in the early fame days of Sex and The City, but once she had kids and a family, we really think it grounded her.
And hey, if she wants to do Jury Duty, that’s fine by us! Bet a lot of you out there would rather she go than yourself!
