Selena Gomez is getting vulnerable like never before in a new Vanity Fair cover story out on Monday.
In the raw new interview, the Only Murders In The Building star shared for the first time that she “can’t carry [her] own children” due to various medical issues. She explained:
“I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
Oof. That isn’t an easy thing to process!

As Perezcious readers know, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum’s health has been complicated for years. She was diagnosed with lupus in 2013, and then underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. She’s worked so hard to tackle these health concerns, so we obviously get why it’s not worth the risk. But that must have been so hard for her to hear!
The actress went on to acknowledge that she has not “ever said this” publicly before, partially because she needed to take the time to get comfortable with the idea of starting a family in a different way first. The 32-year-old expressed:
“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”
Thankfully, the Round & Round singer is in a “much better place” with the unexpected situation now. She added:
“I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different.”
But all that matters is that she’ll one day get to be the momma she always dreamed of being — one way or another! Selly G insisted:
“At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

Interestingly, adoption has always been something the actress has thought about. Back in May, she told Time that if she was still single by age 35, she planned to adopt a child by herself. So, she’s been planning on being a mom one way or another!
These days, though, that planning involves her beau Benny Blanco! They’ve been dating since last summer, and during a May episode of The Howard Stern Show, the music producer revealed that he’s eager to marry and have children with his girlfriend. He gushed:
“That’s my next goal, to check the box. … I love being around kids.”
Reacting to the candid chat, Selena told Vanity Fair:
“He can’t lie. After the interview, I was dying laughing. Like, ‘Anything else you wanted to put out there?’”
Hah! She also called Benny her “best friend” and “a light in [her] life,” reflecting:
“I’ve never been loved this way. He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”
Stop it! That is so adorable and so deserved! If these two ever have children together, they are going to be the luckiest babies! The couple has already been teasing an engagement for weeks now, so this next chapter of their romance could be coming sooner rather than later!!! Thoughts?? Sound OFF (below)!
