Shannen Doherty is continuing to inspire many as she bravely fights breast cancer head on!
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum sat down with Chelsea Handler to open up about her cancer fight for her first late night interview since being diagnosed in 2015. In a clip promoting Friday’s candid chat between the two industry vets, the Heathers actress revealed what exactly she’s learned from this trying time.

Doherty explained:

“I think what’s beautiful and hard and interesting about cancer is that it tears you down and builds you, and tears you down and builds you. It remakes you so many different times. The person I thought I was supposed to be or was going to be or who I thought I was six months ago is now somebody completely different. I realize ├óΓé¼╦£Wow, I really thought that I was so brave and so gracious this entire time and really I was just hiding.'”

If you’re reaching for the tissue box, don’t worry, you’re not alone as Shannen at one point had to tell Miz Handler not to cry. As you may recall, the comedienne lost her mother to breast cancer back in 2006. The 45-year-old continued:

“This was very hard and not humbling ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ because I’ve already been humbled by cancer. It was hard in the sense of rethinking sort of who you are and how you come to terms with who are now and accepting it and looking at your husband and thinking like, ‘Dude, I’m so sorry.'”

Intense stuff.
Of course, Shannen’s incredibly public fight with the disease has left many in awe of her bravery — including several of her former costars. Just the other day, Tori Spelling commented on Doherty’s fight to E! News and only had supportive things to say. The pregnant celeb relayed:

“I haven’t personally seen her, but I, obviously, have followed her fight. It’s been amazing how she’s done it through social media. I give her props for that. I think she’s standing up for a lot of women everywhere who are fighting that battle.”

Preach. Spelling added:

“She’s doing a brave and wonderful job, and we obviously support her. We’ve all been talking and supporting her from afar. It’s really hard to know what to do when someone’s going through that├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥if they want people there or not there. But I think she’s very brave and I admire her so much.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Be sure to take a look at Shannen’s convo with Chelsea for yourself (below) AND catch her full interview on Netflix on October 28.
