Sophie Turner is bravely opening up about how being with Joe Jonas “in a way” saved her life.
In a new interview with the Sunday Times, the Game of Thrones actress shared what it was like to be a “complete mess” and “desperately unhappy” because of her body image, and how she credits her husband for helping her learn to “love herself.”

The HBO star was just 13 when she began work on the hit show, and was 15 when it premiered in 2011, at the very start of social media going mainstream. In a way, she wishes that her adolescence was not “displayed in public,” especially because the show was her first onscreen acting job.
The 23-year-old shared what it was like having her life so highly examined from such a young age, and how seeking therapy at 19 has benefitted her:

“Suddenly, everyone’s metabolism slows down at 17, 18 and then that’s documented. My skin and everything. People commenting on it. I was too aware of my body at a young age. And it just kind of took over my mind, it was all I would think about. Calorie counting, everything. ‘Oh, I’ll just eat nuts today.’ I stopped having my period for a year—that’s when I decided to have therapy…I just think it’s so important everyone should have a therapist, honestly.”

When she met now-husband Joe (via him sliding into her Instagram DMs back in 2016), she was 20 years old, and the JoBro recognized she needed to heal herself before they could be together:

“He was, like, ‘I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.’ That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way.”

The recently married couple have hit a few bumps in the road, even breaking up for 24 hours:

“It was the worst day of our lives. For a second, we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both, like, ‘Never mind.'”

Now, things seem to be smooth sailing for the couple, following a whirlwind ceremony in Sin City, and a formal wedding down the road. The Dark Phoenix star chatted with her bestie Maisie Williams during a Rolling Stone interview, opening up about her man:

“He’s lovely. He’s just the funniest. You wouldn’t expect he’s about to turn 30 this year. He’s the most fun, energetic, positive person I’ve ever seen. I’m pessimistic, so we balance each other out.”

Awww!!!

We totally ship Sophie and Joe, especially since it seems like he’s really had a positive impact on her life!!
