The series will air on TNT and be part of a new two-hour horror block on the network.
Shyamalan, who found recent success serving as executive producer on Fox‘s recent hit show Wayward Pines, responded to the announcement, saying:

“To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales From the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can’t wait to dive into.”

TNT (and TBS) president Kevin Reilly gave some details about how the two-hour Tales from the Crypt block will work on the network:

“It’s not a show, it’s an umbrella for what will hopefully be many shows. We’re going to put a variety of different genre shows├óΓé¼┬ªall united under the Tales from the Crypt brand. Night is definitely going to direct the first one and we’ll see how that evolves. And we’re definitely going to utilize the underlying comics.”

Tales was best known for airing its seven season run on HBO in the ’90s hosted by the puppet Crypt Keeper (above). But the show actually started as a comic book series created by William Gaines in the ’50s.
As of now, the show is set to air sometime next fall on TNT.
What do you think of M. Night’s involvement in the reboot?
