Shannon Carr is furious with her church, and she’s letting them know with a lawsuit!
St. Joseph Catholic Church refuses to allow her to install the $9600 tombstone she bought for her late husband!
Why? So how crazy is this gravestone?
Well, let’s just say you could redneck-ognize it from across the cemetery!
It’s black granite, shaped like a couch, and has color NASCAR and Indianapolis Colts logos carved into it. Not to mention animal head etchings.
Reverend Jonathan Meyer says Mrs. Carr was warned before purchasing the monument that it would not be allowed in their cemetery. He says:
“They told her not to move forward with the purchasing of the monument, but she went ahead anyway.
We have consistently communicated the same message prior to the purchase and after the purchase. We did not think a granite couch was an appropriate monument in our historic cemetery.”
Should everyone be allowed exactly to express themselves and their loved ones on their own tombstones? Or should the rules keep things classy?
