Zendaya Reveals Her Choice To Drop Out Of The Aaliyah Movie Had 'Nothing To Do With The Haters!'

There’s been an insane amount of drama surrounding the Aaliyah biopic since the casting was announced last month…
And when the flick’s leading lady Zendaya dropped out of the movie, moments before walking the BET Awards red carpet on Sunday, we were all scratching our heads as to why!
The Disney actress actually ended up speaking out about why she parted ways with the project at the show, and it’s surprisingly not because of the backlash she received from fans. She revealed:

“I feel it was being rushed and I feel like production just wasn’t there. I have too much respect and love for Aaliyah as a person to do anything less than for her. If I’m going to do something, it has to be done 120 percent right. I love her and can’t wait to portray her another time when the time is right…”

We’d have to agree with this smart starlet — because who really wants to be involved in a messy project!
Hopefully the film gets made, because Zendaya seems determined to conquer the special singer’s role!
