Please open your eyes (no pun intended) and recognize that, although the Miley Cyrus incident may be a small and petty thing to get so much hype, it represents something that is largely ignored in this country, mainly because people don't really give it much thought or consideration.
The truth of the matter is, Asian-Americans have been left behind in the struggle for racial equality in this country. Almost all of them are immigrants or descendants of immigrants - exactly the same as Hispanics and other minorities in this country (i.e. they are on - or started on - the same socioeconomic level). However, the percentage of AAs on welfare is even lower than that of white Americans, and AAs don't qualify for affirmative action, because they exceed all other racial groups in standardized testing and academics.
Consider this: what if Slutty Cyrus and her friends painted their faces black and posed with an African American in this picture? You bet the NAACP would be all over that sh*t, and you would too. The fact that those of you who think this picture is insignificant, then, just proves my point.
Why don't we see more Asians in TV programs, films, and other types of media? There are some cultural barriers, yes, but there has to be something else involved - something that's not being addressed and SHOULD be addressed.
