"[MTV] they exploited Britney in helping to end her career. When Britney was opening, near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, ‘Man, it’s a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.'"

MTV didn't exploit anyone ( but I wouldn't put it past them though) Britney had every opportunity to show out, but she choose to take the lackluster approach and not pull her shit together. If anyone is to blame it's the people around her for not being upfront with her.

This is the only comment that Kanye has ever made that I agree with. I was so disgusted by what he said; that he deserved to win as if no black people had one. But now that he's made some sense, I will buy his CD. And 50s too!

  38. [SHILOHS A FCUKING RETARDED DWARF BITCH] says – reply to this

They did exploit her. right after they allowed her to embarrass herself, they sent out sarah silverman (who's hilarious) to roast her ass. lmaooo

  39. Judi says – reply to this

Oh please STFU Kanye. You're only saying that they "played" Britney because you didn't win any awards.

What you really meant to say was "They're keeping the black man down."

Except that's not true. Maybe you're just a talentless hack.

  40. ann says – reply to this

That's bullshit. Britney is responsible for her own actions. MTV didn't keep her out at a club till 3am, MTV didn't tell not to practice her routine, MTV didn't tell her to not get a trainer and get in shape, MTV didn't distract her from learning her lines and practice lip-syncing, and Britney chose. She is responsible for her own actions, for the way her life goes and the repercussions that go along with it. Stop blaming others. She chose this. If she wanted it to be otherwise she would've been prepared.

  41. Brunette Barbie says – reply to this

I see how Kanye could say that. I don't think it was moral/ethical for MTV to let her perform in her condition. Obviously, they were only after ratings. This also lets other artists know they can step all over that company and still be able to be the opening act for the VMAs….

    Britney almost made her comeback….ALMOST…

  42. Bytch says – reply to this

This cock is way tooooo full of himself….just too think I used to enjoy his music.
Did you read his remarks on MTV.com?
    He's an ass.

  43. kerri says – reply to this

mtv didn't make her perform badly. britney did that all by herself.

  44. Dani says – reply to this

Kanye is absolutely right! for once I agree with something that is said on this site!! what has happened to Britney is really hearbreaking, and I really feel that we as a society, MTV the tabloids and everything in her destructive world has brought her to where she is today. Its not funny, its cruel! This is someone's life that you are picking apart and she can very easily overdose or kill herself and she has two small children. If that happens, I am sure no one will be laughing then. MTV is a disgusting production house. There is no form of art or passion there. Only commercialized branding of tits and ass. They should be ashamed of themselves, THEY SUCK!!!!!

  45. jess says – reply to this

has hell frozen over? kanye has finally said something we can all agree with!

  46. hellokittygirl says – reply to this

I think Kanye has a point. I thought that it was dirty of MTV to used Britney during a rough time in her life to get higher ratings. They knew exactly that Britney was going to screw up, and knew that people would only watch to see her screw up. That's the way they get their ratings. They don't even play videos anymore. They suck!! Shame on them!

Britney needs to get herself together and use them to get back on top!

  47. Thom says – reply to this

No SHIT you dumb ass..just like your new song is only Daft Punk with your shitty rap over it!!!!!!!!

  48. Kim says – reply to this

I think this is the ONLY time I have ever agreed with him! So true…the world knew she wasnt ready for this!

  49. sexisteffi says – reply to this

Ok and does Kanye think whinning and playing the race card is helping his career? But I do agree with him, her people and inner circle set her up to fail big time!

  50. Sushi says – reply to this

That jackass also said MTV is racist and hates black performers. HE IS COMPLETELY FULL OF SHIT!!!!!!!

MTV is ablack about 80% of the time now. What a tool.

  51. Sandy says – reply to this

he's just pissed @ MTV bcos he was snubbed out of all the cats that he was nominated 4. he just using another excuse to bad mouth MTV (tho i do agree it's not as great as it used to be). Britney performance was her fault for not being there and work harder.

  52. Kane says – reply to this

MTV didnt do shit. MTV didnt make Brit not rehearse. MTV didnt make Brit get fuckrd up the 3 nights before the show. And MTV didnt put a drink in her hand and get her high. I also dont think that this is the end of Brit, even though she is a mess now, I still will be there when pulls herself together.

  53. sara says – reply to this

he is 100 % right!!! he is an asshole, but its true, they used her and spit her out.. eeryone knows she wasnt ready!

  54. Kiya says – reply to this

So true… I guess Kanye is not as stupid as I thought. (sorry for those who love him)

  55. mona says – reply to this

Kanye is soooooo right ….MTV has so left a bad taste in the worlds mouth…even Justin Timberlake commented on it….MTV "I don't want my MTV" anymore!

  56. MTV is sad says – reply to this

#3, I agree..Britney had an opportunity to show them up, but MTV knew the writing on the wall. They knew she would be a ratings magnet, and a trainwreck in the process. I would bet that they knew she was not the same girl she was in years past…if they played dumb in this they are lying!
They knew Britney was not going to come out and kill the performance, it was as plain as day!

Kanye is right…Britney has been playing the game for so long, but I think the game eventually got to her.

  57. Rusty says – reply to this

Despite the fact that Kanye reigns supreme in record sales, white folks obvioulsy will try to villify him, but he is the only one saying the truth. Britney has not had a hit in 5 years so MTV puts her on the main stage to open her career when she is struggling in life? Thank you kanye for telling the truth and for staying on top.

  58. Tesla says – reply to this

I find it interesting that Kanye blames MTV for Britney's faliure. MTV is not the "straw that broke Britney's back". She had the opportunity to show the world that she could bounce back and she chose to blow it by not rehearsing.

  59. DK says – reply to this

Finally he said something that was worth listening to.

  60. alexandra says – reply to this

you re such a gentleman kanye!!!!!ans its true but why for once all the talented musicians dont boycott mtv and that s that!!!let them make ceremonies with the girls from the fills or the nerds of next
    alex from argentina

  61. Lindsey says – reply to this

Although I'm not a huge fan of his, he is quite intelligent. He understands this business and he's absolutely right about this. MTV exploited Britney (also, I am not a huge fan) and took advantage of their viewers but hyping us up about that show. It was by far, the worst ever. When is Britney going to get some real guidence? Maybe Kayne should help her?

  62. ravelle says – reply to this

    Kanye - - STFU!
She is a grown up, yeah she is a psycho grown up, but no one dragged her up on the stage, no one held a gun to her head - she knew what she was doing. Its her responsibility. Shut up

  63. Whatevers Never says – reply to this

    Yeah… Whatever… he's retarded.

  64. yvette says – reply to this

Kanye is half-right. MTV thought they'd get great ratings for having Britney on, but little did they know this was going to be one of their worst awards show ever. Britney lacked a whole lot of energy, and she really seemed out of place. Her agent/publicist/manager (or whomever) should have the balls to grab their client and shake sense into them. She needs to remember that she was once hot as hell and somewhere deep (very deep) inside she's still got whatever it is that makes us keep watching and rooting for her. The performance was wack but what were people really expecting from her recent track record of drinking like a sailor and walking around barefoot in public restrooms? I am all for second chances and believe she should get one. On the other hand why isn't anyone talking about how fucken ugly Paris' & Beyonces' hair looked at the VMA's?

  65. monieluv236 says – reply to this

as usual, he is dead right. they set her up to look like a fool, and it was horrible to instruct sarah silverman to make fun of her when she was barely off the stage. mtv is the meanest most exploitive piece of crap ever.

  66. Lauren says – reply to this

for once he's right…i'm glad he felt bad for her in that terrible industry. Perez is still exploiting her.

  67. Britney Spears says – reply to this

Wha, wha…what? Kanye…am I hearing right…maybe sounds like a bit of compassion? No…he's just learning a good lesson…..Stop with the mouth flapping dude or your next! See Ya Kannie….Be gone! Poof…in a heart beat….mind your peas and cues!

Just to set the record straight….Pres. Bush doesn't hate black people…only ass holes such as yourself don't matter what color your are!

  68. mandi says – reply to this

kanye's right ,all mtv cares about is ratings

  69. dani says – reply to this

Now he feels bad for her? Kanye is the most schizophrenic, inconsistent celeb ever… and that's saying something.

  70. gank1 says – reply to this

This guys is an asshole…I dont care how much money he has or how good is music is. He's a plain and simple dumb mother fucka. Everything that comes out of his mouth should go right back up his asshole. Cause that's where shit is supposed to be.

  71. napkcirtap says – reply to this

wow, kanye is actually saying something that makes sense for the 1st time in months

  72. napkcirtap says – reply to this

wow, kanye is actually saying something that makes sense for the 1st time in months

  73. M from Toronto says – reply to this

Well. Kanye and I agree for once. He's right, rising or falling, there will be someone there to use that to their advantage.
Of course, the music business in particular has always chewed people up and spit them out.

  74. jason says – reply to this

yet this bitch crys like a baby when mtv doesn't exploit him on the main stage. it's like saying the KKK is bad and then crying about them not letting you join.

  75. jeena says – reply to this

    Re: chocolate
y'all are ALWAYS crying racism on this site, and look who the first person to make a racist comment is… of course CHOCOLATE! could have at least used a different name to make it not so obvious.
anyway, i agree 100% w/kanye, for once. they exploited her for ratings- as simple as that!

  76. Smithers says – reply to this

Kanye - SHUT UP! When are your 15 minutes of fame over???? No one wants to hear your comments about conspiracies against Britney. She is an adult (although she doesn't act like one most of the time) and her performed sucked. It sucked not because of MTV, her manager, her kids, Sarah Silverman's comments, KFed, etc. It sucked because she can't get herself together and step away from the booze and cheetos.

  77. danabelle says – reply to this

of course they exploited Britney; they exploited anyone else they could to get ratings. This isn't Romper Room or Captain Kangaroo…this is the entertainment biz. MTV had such dismal ratings over the last few years, so they were desperate. DESPERATE!

And, yes, they helped to end the career of Britney Spears, an entertainer who single-handedly saved MTV in the late 90's, early 00's from complete irrelevance! Shameful, but they knew she would bomb, and that most people wanted to see it…and that people would be talking about the performance and MORE IMPORTANTLY MTV, no matter what happened. The brand was trying to save their ass…and they helped the star that made them fall even further (if that was possible) from grace…it is a dog eat dog world unh? still shameful that they would let her destroy what was left of her career…

As for Kanye…nobody cares that much about this guy. He should try a little shot of humility…it does go a long way these days as it is in SHORT supply!!!

  78. ROLLTIDE2 says – reply to this

  79. Lisa says – reply to this

I actually agree with him! Wow!! Never thought that would happen!! Hell must have froze over!

  80. Edumacated says – reply to this

Can someone please put a muzzle on this semi-literate asshole? Oh, that's right, a muzzle probably won't fit over those horse teeth. Doesn't he have anything better to do with his time? I'm sure he must have another three-way with John Legend and Common that he can use to occupy his time, rather than spewing his latest grade-school-level aphorism.

  81. jane says – reply to this

This douchebag is totally right actually. But MTV sucks has always sucked especially the last 5 years. I mean I didn't even bother watching the awards because they have been retarded for the past 5 years. No one cares about the nominees or videos anymore because they all suck. I miss the early 90s when there was atleast something edgy and fun about the VMA's these days they suck and just focus on the typical Britney/Paris/Lindsay losers. Or the dumb egomaniacal hip hop stars. But MTV did exploit her for ratings.

  82. Rose says – reply to this

kanye, her career is far from over. Trust me.

  83. Jayb0i says – reply to this

    Fuck kanye and fuck Britney.

    Vanessa Hudgens is the shit

  84. Me says – reply to this

Maybe we could get Michael Vick to electrocute or drown her. Isn't that what we do to the bitches who fail us? There are always younger, skinnier heathier ones waiting to leap into the fray and put on the show we can cheer on.
Is Britney to blame for being exactly what we made of her, and then overstaying her " usefulness"?
    Bad dog Britney, no bone.

  85. andrea says – reply to this

I actually agree with him on this…I don't like Brit's music i don't know her personally so I can't say that I don't like her, but I feel bad for her. Everyone is putting her down,I just hope she doesn't do anything dumb like take her life when she has 2 little ones at home. Ok its not funny anymore, leave her alone now, everyone had their laughs.

  86. Fred Flintstoned says – reply to this

Yeah he is right…It's over for Britney….MTV made her….MTV killed her

  87. stacey says – reply to this

  88. miranda says – reply to this

o shut up everyone is counting down til you gte out of the spotlight youfagg

  89. TimeZone says – reply to this

I agree with Kanye that MTV exploited Britney but they didn't do it withour her permission. She is the adult mother of two and could have used better judgement, on many counts.

  90. Emmaxx says – reply to this

    I Love Him :D
He Was Sooooooooooo Good At The Awards :D
N Hes Soooooo Nice In Person :D
    Love Him :D

  91. batman says – reply to this

And this is coming from the dude after the VMAs bitchin and moanin cause he didnt win again, GET THE FUCK OVER IT BUD!! YOU SUCK.

  92. ck says – reply to this

for once i agree with him, but it's kinda fucked up how before the show he was bitching about her opening, now he's saying he feels bad for her, but i agree, mtv should know she wasn't ready and should have never asked her!!

  93. beetlebugg says – reply to this

This is the ONLY time I've ever agreed with Kanye. He's absolutely right.

  94. texaschick says – reply to this

For once, I actually agree with him! Never thought I would ever say that!!! However, Britney did have more to do with the ending of her career than MTV or anyone eklse for that matter. I wish people would quit blaming her manager, or because she is tired! WAKE UP ASSES!! Britney is an adult and makes her own decisions. She decided to show up late, not rehearse and party the days and weeks before her "comeback".

  95. Carol says – reply to this

I agree. Then again, why is Britney doing this, she has loads of $$$ she should have just stayed home with her babies!!!!

  96. amy says – reply to this

the only thing he's ever said that i consider somewhat sensible… but then again, he is king of 'blame everyone else" so whatever.

  97. L says – reply to this

  98. jplo says – reply to this

i can't even look at this man, i just want to punch him in the face. can't he ever just SHUT THE FUCK UP! go home and whine about how you were "dissed" at the VMAs, DOUCHEBAG!

  99. boo poo says – reply to this

for once I agree with Kanye! MTV used her and abused her. If they thought anything of her and all her years of GOOD performances, they would not have had Sarah the looser on after her.

  100. lori says – reply to this

Britney has noone to blame but herself. She is a total mess. Stop blaming MTV and everyone. Yes, it is a tough business, but that talentless kook has gotten paid very well for her "work". Would love to see how she would fare out in the real world.
