But Paul McCartney saved his tribute to the Purple One for his Wednesday concert, because he was playing in the late icon's hometown of Minneapolis!
Kicking off the first of his two-night stop at the Target Center in Minnesota, the former Beatle stood in front of Prince's famous symbol while rocking out to a rendition of Let's Go Crazy.
After the performance, the 74-year-old dedicated the show to "the late, great Prince," telling the audience:
"Here's to the man. Loved that guy. Thank you, Prince, for writing so many beautiful songs, so much music. And he's your guy."
This touches our hearts!

Taylor Swift had one hell of a 2015!
With the mega success of her Grammy-winning album 1989, and her epically lucrative 1989 World Tour, the New Romantics songstress was the top earner of last year!
Swifty absolutely slayed the competition, earning a whopping $73.5 million largely thanks to her tour — which cashed in $61.7M for her 2015 haul.
But other factors like album sales and streaming sales helped — and even Ryan Adams' 1989 cover album helped make the pop star the top earner of publishing royalties!
While Swift's success isn't that surprising, the rest of the top ten earners may be…

Move over, Keith Richards! You're not the only British rock legend who dabbles in piracy!
Beatles co-founder Paul McCartney is getting in on the fun too, as he's filming a brief appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales!
And he's boarding late!
The fifth installment in the Disney ride-turned-film franchise, set to bow in Summer 2017, has already wrapped principal photography with returning stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush.
But apparently directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning are adding one more scene with the FourFiveSeconds singer.
We have no idea what it could be, but considering it's after the fact we're guessing Disney is bringing the Marvel Studios post-credit scene to the open sea.
What do YOU think of Paul in Dead?
We've lost a legend.
One of the most famous music producers, Sir George Henry Martin, also known as the "Fifth Beatle", has passed away at 90.
Martin was of course most famously known for signing The Beatles in 1962 to Parlophone Records when the company was mainly focusing on jazz and comedy.
George ended up going on to produce and arrange almost all of the Fab Four's songs during his career, that lasted more than six decades. Overall, the late producer helped create 23 number-one hits in the U.S. and 30 number one hit singles in the U.K.!
Though there aren't many details regarding the legend's passing, Beatles member Ringo Starr took to Twitter to confirm the death by sharing:
Tyga caused quite a stir when people found out that Paul McCartney, Beck, and the Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins were all turned away from the rapper's Grammys after-party at the Argyle nightclub Monday night.
Initial reports were that the Rack City rapper came off a bit nonchalant about the whole incident, but Jimmy Kimmel wanted to give the 26-year-old a chance to explain himself.
That's why Kylie Jenner's BF stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to give his side of the story and explain why you shouldn't blame him for turning Sir Paul away!
Ch-ch-check out Tyga's explanation (below) and let us know if you're buying what he's selling!
Who did this bouncer think he was?!
But there was a snag in their plan, because all three were denied entry at the door.
Honestly, the whole idea of Kylie Jenner's boyfriend rejecting a member of The Beatles was so absurd that the whole group had a nice laugh about it.
The 73-year-old was caught on camera quipping:
"How VIP do we gotta get?"
He joked to Beck:
