How Chris Soules' Criminal Past Could Turn A Fatal Car Crash Into Murder Charges

Chris Soules' arrest Monday night isn't his first time getting in trouble with the law. And that could make his punishment this time around far worse.

The former Bachelor star was originally charged with fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, a class D felony. But later on alcoholic beverage containers were found in his possession.

Even for someone with a spotless record, driving under the influence could bring far greater consequences. But Chris doesn't have a clean record.

He reportedly was busted for minor in possession of alcohol in 2001 (when he was 19-20 years old), for unlawful use of a license in 2002, and seven times for speeding between 2000-2012. He was even charged with leaving the scene of an accident once before in 2002, but that was later amended.

But those violations pale in comparison to the bust that could damn him to a murder charge. As we previously reported, he's already been busted for a DUI (though it was called an OWI in Iowa) back in 2005. He got 60 days in jail, a year probation, and a fine of $500.

Doesn't seem like much of a penalty to us. But it could change everything for him now. Legal expert Troy Slaten explained to E! News why:

More details on Chris Soules' arrest.

As we reported, the former Bachelor was taken into custody after leaving the scene of a deadly crash on Monday night. The driver of the other involved vehicle died later at the hospital.

This morning, the former reality star headed to court for his arraignment, just as reports surfaced that cops found alcoholic beverage containers in Chris' possession at the time of the crash.

In case you're unfamiliar, the TV personality has a history of drinking and driving — as he was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2006.

According to KWWL, it "took hours" for cops to obtain a search warrant to retrieve the 35-year-old from a nearby home after he fled the scene. The County Attorney says Chris has not been cooperative with law enforcement and his bail is set at a $10,000 bond.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more — but in the meantime let's take a look at where all the other past Bachelors are (below)!

Things aren't looking good for Jackie Warner.

You may remember, the former star of Bravo's Work Out was arrested back in February after driving her vehicle into a pole, then backing into the cops who arrived on the scene.

She has now officially been charged with misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor hit-and-run, and felony assault on a police officer for almost hitting the cop approaching the car.

At the time, Warner claimed she had only had a single martini earlier in the day, despite blowing a .08% blood alcohol concentration — the legal limit. Warner's defense? She had taken an Ambien while safely at home and was out sleep-driving.

Warner's lawyer, Shawn Holley, says they're ready to fight the charges — but that they should never have been filed in the first place! Holley tells TMZ:
