We're sure Natalie Portman is pleased to hear from leading American Hindus regarding her music video with ex-boyfriend Devendra Banhart. Hindu scholars are calling for an apology from Portman for her portrayal of an Indian princess in Banhart's video for Carmensita. We're calling for an apology for Banhart's peen pics (NSFW - duh)! Indo-American statesman and devout Hindu, Rajan Zed, said he was hurt by the video. He said that too often revered Hindu imagery is used too lightly in pop culture, contributing to discouraging stereotypes. His voice joins those of officials at the Hindu Alliance of India, Shri Ramayan Pracharini Sabha, India Heritage Panel, who would also like Nat to "distance herself from the Banhart video." We're sure she'd be all too happy to. We don't know - we thought the video was a cute homage to the Bollywood aestehtic. What do U think? It's back to being single for actress Natalie Portman. In Touch Weekly is reporting that the aspiring director and her musician boyfriend, Devendra Banhart, have broken up. A source close to Devendra confirms, "Yes, they have broken up." That sucks, especially since Portman even appeared in a Bollywood-inspired music video for her now ex-boyfriend's song, Carmensita. The two apparently fell in love while shooting the video months ago. Couples shouldn't work together! The vid will be a constant reminder of what they used to have. Portman had even moved from NY to Los Angeles just to be closer to Devendra. The source adds, "Natalie and Devendra will remain friends but need some space and time away." No worries, we still think she can do better! This year will mark Natalie Portman's directorial debut. Her film will open the Venice International Film Festival's short-film sidebar. The festival runs from August 27th through September 6th. The flick, Eve, is a 17 minute short film being called "a civilized comedy." It stars Ben Gazzara and Lauren Bacall.
