Bob Barker Writes A Letter Against Price Is Right Calgary Stampede Prize

bob-barker-writes-letter.jpg
As we previously mentioned, Bob Barker was not too happy when he found that The Price Is Right was giving away a trip to the Calgary Stampede as one of its prizes.
The Calgary Stampede is cruel event that usually ends in several horse deaths.
So now Bob has written a letter on PETA’s behalf to the event’s main sponsors.
He wrote:

“I’m writing today about your sponsorship of the Calgary Stampede. As both a businessperson and an animal rights advocate, I urge you to take PETA’s advice and reconsider your support of this notoriously cruel event.
The Calgary Stampede is one of the most despicable rodeos in the world, and dozens of horses have been killed in it during the past few years. On the very first day of the stampede last year, a horse had to be euthanized after breaking his leg, and six horses died during the barbaric spectacle in 2010. Countless other animals sustain punctured lungs, deep internal organ bruising, hemorrhaging, injured tendons, torn ligaments and muscles, and broken ribs, backs, legs, and necks, and many die in pain. Devices that are illegal in many other countries├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥such as electric shock prods, certain types of spurs, and bucking straps, which are cinched around the animal’s groin├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥are used to enhance the cruel spectacle.
Surely no one would be cheering a nine-day display of violence if the terrified horses and calves were cats and dogs. I hope you will agree that no animal deserves to suffer like this in the name of a tradition that should have died out with the covered wagon’s last ride. My friends at PETA and I hope to hear that you will no longer sponsor this event. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Kind regards,
Bob Barker”

Hopefully they’ll listen to someone like Bob Barker, a man who has been a champion for animal rights for decades now.
