Brittany Murphy‘s bereaved husband Simon Monjack is outraged at the rumors that his wife died from a drug overdose or related to an eating disorder. He says:
“I’m confident it wasn’t an overdose. She was not a drug addict…There’s no question that’s rubbish…My wife did not take anything on the morning of her death that would have caused her to be sick or ill, let alone die. It’s beyond even the sickest speculation…
“The attacks on me, the attacks on my wife and suggestions that she was anorexic and drug addicted, it’s like, look at the (recent) photographs. Look at that smile. That’s not the smile of an anorexic or drug addict or someone in a bad marriage. That’s someone who was content with her life.”
Simon also says that he and his wife planned to release a book of photography in celebration of their marriage. Many of the photos can be found on his photography website.
“The photos (of Brittany) were all taken over a period of one year,” he says. “She was a powerful, strong beautiful woman, despite being my baby and her mother’s life.”
Monjack has also addressed his shady past but disagreed with many of the claims flying around about it admitting, “I’m certainly not perfect, but it’s beyond anything I could ever dream the things I’ve read.”
As for opposing the autopsy, Monjack said it was his first reaction, but has since realized it was necessary:
“My initial reaction the autopsy was — they’re going to cut her open. I couldn’t bear it. That would break her mother, but we realized we needed to know.”
The autopsy completed on Monday found no visible cause of death so we are now waiting on the toxicology results among other tests within 4 to 6 weeks.
We hope her family is able to get some sort of closure soon.
