Broadway's Frozen Star Patti Murin Talks 'Massive Anxiety Attack' That Forced Her To Skip A Performance

patti murin reveals anxiety attack issues
Broadway’s Frozen star Patti Murin isn’t afraid to be open about her mental health.
On Wednesday, the up-and-comer chose to get candid about her anxiety struggles after calling out of a performance on Tuesday evening. Alongside a picture of herself all done up as Princess Anna, Miz Murin noted that she “had a massive anxiety attack in the afternoon.”

While Patti is loving being apart of the latest Disney success on Broadway, she revealed that “the ups and downs and stress and excitement” has taken somewhat of a “toll on [her] mental health.” The Chicago Med alum explained:

So last night I called out of the show because I had a massive anxiety attack in the afternoon. It had been building up for a while, and while the past month has been incredible, all of the ups and downs and stress and excitement really takes a toll on my mental health. I├óΓé¼Γäóve learned that these situations aren├óΓé¼Γäót something to “deal with” or “push through.” Anxiety and depression are real diseases that affect so many of us. It requires a lot of rest and self care to heal every time it becomes more than I can handle in my daily life. While I hate missing the show for any reason at all, Disney has been nothing but supportive of me as I navigate my life and work, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm so grateful to them. Just remember that you├óΓé¼Γäóre not alone, your feelings are real, and this is not your fault. Even Disney princesses are terrified sometimes.A post shared by Pattimurin (@pattimurin) on Apr 18, 2018 at 7:32am PDT

Well said. And it seems that we aren’t the only ones impressed with Patti’s candor, as many fans have already flocked to the triple threat’s comments section.
One particularly moved follower weighed in:

“You have no idea what an impact a post like this can make. So many of us struggle with anxiety and never give it a voice because we don’t want to appear broken. We skip things like our jobs, going to the theater, being with friends, because we’re so afraid to be seen. Thank you for stepping out of the wings and allowing us all to see it’s the ‘brokenness’ that gives us dimension and beauty. This makes me want to watch you perform even more! Disney obviously cast the perfect person to play a brave, beautiful and pioneering princess. Thank you beyond words. ├░┼╕ΓÇÖΓÇó├░┼╕ΓÇÖΓÇó├░┼╕ΓÇÖΓÇó take care of YOU!”

Hear! Hear!
This isn’t the first time that Patti has addressed her struggles with anxiety. Back in March, Murin told People that on stage sister Caissie Levy has been there for her during trying times. Specifically, during previews in Denver for the show, Patti was hit with a “severe panic attack” and Levy did everything in her power to comfort her costar.
We’re just glad to see that Patti has an incredible support system in her Frozen family. Thank you for sharing your truth, girl!
