What a mess this is turning out to be!
Iconic American Top 40 radio host Casey Kasem, who passed away in June, is still not buried over two months after his death.
And while his children say his wish was to be buried at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California, his wife Jean Kasem is planning to fly his body to Oslo, Norway to be buried there!
But while Jean claims that she’s doing this because she has Norwegian blood in here, her nephew claims that is NOT the case at all!
Here’s what the nephew Tommy Thompson said:
“As far as we know, we are English, German and Native American. We have never ever heard anyone speak of Norway or [speak] Norwegian for that matter in our house. We don”t have an ounce of Norwegian blood to our knowledge.”
Wow! That’s bizarre!
The rest of Casey’s family are trying to prevent Jean from flying his body to the country, but they don’t have a lot of options to fight her!
Here’s what their publicist Danny Deraney said:
“As you may have seen, Jean Kasem is planning to attempt to bury Casey Kasem in Oslo, Norway. She sent an open letter to the Norwegian government declaring among other things, her Norwegian ancestry. The children, the family and friends want Casey Kasem to be buried in the place he requested, Forest Lawn in Glendale. Not to a foreign country he has never visited…He publicly made it clear to his friends, his kids, that he wanted to be buried in Forest Lawn in Glendale, in Los Angeles.”
Unfortunately Jean Kasem is the legal conservator of Casey’s body and technically can do whatever she pleases with him – no matter how morally wrong it seems!
The head of the funeral service administration in Oslo, Norway, Wenche Madsen Eriksson recently confirmed the burial plans when he said:
“It’s been arranged, he’s going to Oslo.”
Darn – that seems kind of final!!!
We hear Casey’s daughter Kerri is determined to write a letter to the Norwegian government to try and see if they can help her and her siblings out.
Hopefully that works! Because this does NOT seem like something Casey would’ve want!
And it would be a shame if his children would be so far away from their beloved late father’s resting place!!!
